Help with map controls, biome search and saved locations.
Get started & find your seed
In Java, use /seed where you have permission. In Bedrock, look for Seed in the world's game settings. For a server, ask its owner.
Enter the seed and choose Load. Edition and version changes apply immediately. Choose the version that generated the part of the world you are exploring.
Map controls & saving an image
Drag to pan. Scroll or pinch to zoom. Select a point to inspect its biome, copy coordinates or save a pin. On desktop, right-click the map to save its image using your browser.
With the map focused: arrow keys move, + and − zoom, and Enter selects the center. Escape closes a panel; in fullscreen it exits fullscreen.
Heights, dimensions & accuracy
This is a biome map, not a terrain map. Surface and Underground sample fixed Y levels; they do not follow the ground. Open the height control to choose a custom Y level.
Bedrock's End has one biome, so its map is a single color. Island outlines need terrain data. Standard generation is supported; world-generation mods, datapacks and custom settings can produce different results.
Chunks generated in older Minecraft versions can differ from a map generated with a newer version. Preview versions may change.
Finding the nearest biome
Choose a biome, an explicit search origin and a radius in blocks. Find nearest checks for the nearest match in the horizontal circle at your chosen Y level.
The nearest result is guaranteed only when the search completes. Large searches can take time. You can keep exploring while it runs, or select Stop. A completed search with no result means no match at that height within that radius.
Highlights, borders & display
Use Biomes to highlight one or more biome types. Display controls the interface theme, labels, biome borders, the chunk grid and dimming of unhighlighted biomes. Borders fade as you zoom out to keep the overview readable.
Pins & sharing
Pins are stored in this browser, without an account or cloud sync. Clearing site data removes them. Open a pin, then choose Share to copy its location. Share includes your current map view and map display settings. Your interface theme stays on this browser.
Shared links contain the world seed and coordinates. Only send them to people you want to share that information with.
Something looks wrong
Check the seed, edition, version, dimension and height first. Give the map time to refine after a large move. Reload if generation reports an error.
