Slime Base — Minecraft Slime Chunk Cluster Finder

A slime chunk is a specific chunk in Minecraft where slimes can spawn below Y level 40, regardless of light level. Every Minecraft world has a fixed set of slime chunks determined by the world seed — roughly 1 in 10 chunks is a slime chunk. In Bedrock Edition, slime chunk locations are the same for every world.

The easiest way to find slime chunks in Minecraft is by using an online tool like Slime Base — enter your world seed and it maps out all slime chunks, letting you search for clusters of any size. You can also find them in-game by digging below Y level 40 and watching for slime spawns, though this is much slower.

For most Minecraft slime farms, a 2x2 slime chunk cluster is the most practical — it's relatively easy to find and provides enough spawning space for an efficient slimeball farm. Larger clusters like 3x3 produce more slimes per hour but are much rarer and require significantly more excavation to build.

Slime farms are built inside slime chunks below Y level 40. Players clear out large rooms and add platforms for slimes to spawn on, then use water streams or iron golems to move and kill them. The farm collects slimeballs automatically.

Slimes spawn in slime chunks at Y level 39 and below in any light level. They can also spawn in swamp biomes at the surface between Y 51 and 69 at night, but only when the light level is 7 or less.

In Minecraft Java Edition, slime chunk locations are determined by the world seed — each seed produces a unique pattern of slime chunks. In Bedrock Edition, slime chunks are the same for every world regardless of seed. Slime Base supports both editions, which is why a seed is only required for Java.
